A hydraulic engineer and an enthusiast for new open source geographical and spatial technologies in the management of resources. Walid developed his skills in an international environment in the United States and the Netherlands, where he worked in the application of remote sensing technologies and geographic information systems (GIS) to develop solutions in water and environmental resources management. His passion for open source GIS software lead him to endeavor in capacity development as an open source GIS advocate as well as developing GIS solutions for business applications with Geomatic Solutions Company.
